So as a woman I have found Gerard Butler to be somewhat attractive. Ok, lets not lie; he was F***ing sexy in 300!
So now that I got that out of my system let’s talk about his new movie that comes out today; GAMER.
The movie takes place in the near future, where humans control other humans in a massive multiplayer online game. Billionaire, Ken Castle, creates this new form of gaming that lets players act out their desires and fantasies in front of a global audience. The game that is the focus of the movie is called “Slayers” and Kable (Butler) is the main character of this first person shooter. Simon, who is the young man that is playing Kable, he has become well known for his consistent victory from week to week in guiding Kable through out “Slayers”. Kable has been forced to play in the game and with Simon’s help he has been trying to free his family, regain his identity and become free from the game; all while bringing an end to Castle’s technology and save mankind.
The movie has gotten mixed reviews so far. Some saying that the actions and the over plot has been an interesting twist for a movie, while others have gone as far as saying that they can’t play video games for a week after seeing this. Many people see this movie as a message to society and trying to show how online games can sometimes go too far. It seems to me after reading several reviews that the media has been giving it poor reviews (around 1-2 stars out of 5), while individuals have been posting better reviews and more reasons to see it.
This movie is the third movie that Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have done together. Their previous movies, CRANK and CRANK 2, might give you somewhat of an idea of what to expect. So in other words something that is between last summer’s Death Race and 1987’s Running Man.
Either way it looks like a movie that will be fun and not just for gamers. Hopefully we will get to see the 300 side of Butler which has been masked by all his girly movies that are out right now.
If you see it please give us your review, we can’t wait to see how it turns out! Enjoy!
